Certified data erasure in Hull

We use Certus erasure software, which holds NCSC and ADISA certification and supports the UK government’s HMG IS5 Baseline and Enhanced methods. It is designed to remove data from drives so that it cannot be recovered.

Why deleting files is not enough

Deleting files or formatting a drive does not reliably remove the data underneath, and it can often be recovered with the right tools. If a computer is sold, given away or thrown out without being properly erased, your personal or business information may go with it.

Who needs secure data destruction?

  • Businesses retiring PCs, laptops and servers
  • Organisations in the private and public sector
  • Home users passing on or disposing of an old computer

Under UK GDPR, businesses are responsible for the personal data they hold, including data on equipment they no longer use.

Erase first, then recycle

Data erasure pairs naturally with computer recycling in Hull. We erase your data securely first, then recycle the equipment responsibly.

  • A superb service, son's PC suddenly stopped working, and wouldn't reboot, took it in today (between Christmas and New Year), looked at it there and then, found the fault, got it restarted and gave us recommendations for potential upgrades. Much appreciated speedy service! Thank you 😊

Frequently asked questions

What is HMG IS5?

HMG IS5 is the UK government’s standard for secure sanitisation of storage media, with Baseline and Enhanced methods. The Certus software we use supports both.

Is deleting my files or formatting the drive enough?

No. Neither reliably removes the data, which can often be recovered. Certified erasure is the safe way to do it.

Can you also recycle the equipment?

Yes. We securely erase your data first and then recycle old PCs, laptops and servers responsibly.

Your choices

When you first visit, you can choose “Accept all” or “Essential only”. Essential only means the Google map, Google Analytics and their cookies are not loaded. The contact form’s spam check from Cloudflare is necessary for the form to work, so it is not affected by this choice. You can change your mind at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer of this website. You can also delete cookies and stored site data in your browser settings. If you have already accepted, deleting them removes anything stored so far.

Your information

This policy covers cookies only. If you send us a message through the contact form, we use your details to reply to your enquiry. We also keep a record of the enquiry, the emails we send in response and your IP address for up to 7 days, so that we have a record of our correspondence and can protect the form from abuse. To protect the form from spam, Cloudflare Turnstile checks each submission as described above.
